Telecom Provider Case Study
Learn more about our solutions for the telecommunications industry.
Client:
A major global telecom provider.
Situation:
Recognizing that a comprehensive, up-to-date picture of its field assets was critical to its growth strategy, a major global telecom company partnered with Apex Engineering Solutions to perform a field inventory of all central offices (COs) and remote terminals (RTs) across 13 states. The project required field auditors to visit each location and collect required information through a customized field asset management solution.
Strategic Opportunity:
Ensuring that the inventory collected a complete set of information, the field asset data was carefully collected on site, physically reviewed, and matched against the address in the data provided. The GPS readings were recorded and along with other data — such as the housing environment, the size of the fiber termination panel, the fiber ID number and an inventory of relay rack shelves — entered into the Field Asset Management Technology developed by Apex — ProField. This dynamic tool allows for further QA with efficient, experienced QA teams located around the world.
Key Challenge:
Leveraging digital routing and mapping, GPS and other state-of-the-art technologies to capture data accurately in the field, ProField provides a complete, up-to-date picture of field assets. With that information in hand, companies are better prepared to efficiently and strategically roll out new services in today’s competitive environment, where time-to-market is mission-critical.
Apex CoVantage Role:
In record-time, Apex quickly mobilized an experienced, highly-trained global workforce of 600 field technicians, who worked in 75,000 locations to expertly:
- capture defined attribute information
- document the field conditions via digital photos
- record Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) locations.
Result:
The benefits of ProField have driven significant cost savings, and have lead to a highly successful program.
