Case Studies in Government
When the nation’s premier institute of health required an extremely large-scale conversion of medical literature as the central part of a multi-year modernization program, Apex was selected based on experience and demonstrated performance in similar projects. The challenge encompassed millions of pages of historic medical literature from thousands of journals for inclusion in a centralized government-funded service. Apex experts converted the data to the PubMed XML DTD from original paper journals, produced full text articles, and created the XML encoded metadata, including abstracts. In the process, Apex became a collaborative partner with the agency through combined project staff meetings and common technical issue resolution activities. Being part of the decision making process enabled Apex to make immediate production system updates and modifications.
