The Benefits of Encoding, Now More Accessible
Apex CoVantage is pleased to work in new partnership with the TEI Consortium as part of a program to pool smaller digitization projects to receive the cost and quality benefits usually reserved for larger, more comprehensive projects.  A membership organization representing eighty-one institutions in nineteen countries, TEI represents the TEI metadata standard, which is used around the world to create richly tagged digital collections that enable advanced research by scholars.

A Broad Scope of Experience Resulting in Best Quality
Apex has over twenty years of experience handling a wide-range of culturally significant and often difficult-to-digitize material. The projects in our repertoire include challenging academic material ranging from the handwritten correspondence of Thomas Jefferson to 15th century texts from the Early English Books Online collection. Steeped in TEI specifications and academic collections, our project design and production staff is well-equipped to meet the diverse encoding needs of different customers and projects.

Small-Scale Project Focus, Large-Scale Benefits
No longer are larger projects and collections the only ones who can afford to digitize and place their searchable content online. By handling many smaller projects rather than one large project, Apex can offer the economies that substantial orders enjoy to smaller collections and plans. User Friendly Web Interface
Using Apex's AccessTEI Customer Portal, TEI members can analyze their digitization options and choose the best solution, without having to be experts in TEI metadata. TEI members can "shop" for digitization options by reviewing sample output with corresponding prices, according to the three characteristics of typeface, legibility, and condition. In addition, the AccessTEI Customer Portal's project tracking and reporting features eliminate reliance on email, spreadsheets, and other inefficient tracking mechanisms. As a result, project management requires fewer resources and less time, resulting in the lowest possible overall project costs for TEI members.
